Programmes

At Central England CKD we have a number of programmes that have been developed specifically for different students' requirements.

For our youngest students, children between 4 and 6 years old, we have the Lil' Dragons programme, which focuses on making learning fun whilst instilling confidence, improving co-ordination and teaching selfdefence skills.

For older children, between 10 and 14 years old, we have the Hwarang Do (Flower of Youth) leadership progamme, with dedicated leadership classes held on the first Friday of each month.

For those students that are too young for the leadership programme but have shown great enthusiasm and effort in their Choi training. These students wear a patch emblazoned 'STORM' - Special Team of Role Models - and are held as an example to the other students.

For adults, we tailor the training based upon the Choi Kwang Do syllabus in regular weekly classes. In addition, we provide self-funded masterclasses, which provide focused training on specific areas of the syllabus.

On joining the school, students are taught in beginners' classes covering the fundamentals of Choi Kwang Do. These classes are designed to last a minimum of six weeks, depending upon the student's ability, at which time the students can take their first belt promotion (grading). On passing their first belt promotion, they then join in with the students studying the first year of the syllabus.

As students progress and are promoted through the belt ranks, the second and third years of the syllabus are introduced. When the syllabus has been completed then students should be ready to test for black belt.

Once black belt has been achieved then a whole new syllabus opens up for students and their training continues.
